growing up gretta

{9.2.2010}

Dear Gretta Rose,
lately i have been thinking about life a year ago.
i was pregnant with you and loving almost every minute of it.
i remember being just fine with keeping you in there,
because the thought of 3 kids was overwhelming to say the least.
and now here you are...9 months old...an entire pregnancy.
you are growing to be such a sweet and beautiful little girl,
and i know i say it all the time, but i cannot believe we ever lived without you.

at nine months old, you are ruling the house.
you want mine and daddy's constant attention.
if you are awake, it means i am on the floor sitting next to you playing.
every time i try to get a thing done and sneak away you start whining and searching for me.
spoiled little thing.

you are so busy.
crawling everywhere and standing on everything.
i swear we will have a walker on our hands soon.

your favorite place to play is directly under my computer.
all my notecards used to be neatly organized and tucked away in a basket under my desk,
but now they are all crinkled and covered with teeth marks.
and i am pretty sure you are the reason my printer hasn't worked for a month.

your poor cheeks are covered in a rash always.
thinking we may need to get to a dr. soon.
and your poor bum...always red and itching.
i am afraid you and the rockstar have the same skin.

daddy and i are always laughing at the hilarious faces you pull.
your top teeth seem to be a little large for your petite little face.
daddy lovingly refers to them as your chiclets.
you love to stick them out over your bottom lip...giving you a "buck tooth" look.
you do it all day long.
haha. makes me laugh just thinking about it.

when you are tired, you love to cuddle.
every night we give you a bottle and rock with you.
the second you're done you turn and crawl onto our chest to be burped
and snuggle your face into our shoulder while we sing "I am a Child of God."
so sweet.
definitely my favorite part of the day, and about the only time i can get anything done.

you are such an early riser.
sometimes you are up as early as 6 in the morning.
not cool gretta.
not cool.

no interest in the tv.
dang.

you are my hardest baby to feed.
always leaping out of the bumbo without notice.
you seriously are just too busy to bother with eating.
i have to shovel it in as fast as can be.
such a workout.

i was so excited sunday morning to dress you up in this dress that my dear friend becky gave when you were teeny tiny.
so feminine.
so you.
and it has little rose buds which makes it even better.
you are such a dainty little darling.
love you baby.

Love,
Mommy
